Interact Club's Visit to the House of Missionaries
On the 2nd August 2025, The Interact Club of Loreto Convent Darjeeling undertook a memorable service project, visiting the local House of Missionaries. For many members, this visit shed light on a vital community establishment previously unknown to them. Under the guidance of Faculty Advisors Ms. Sakaru and Ms. Gracy, ten Interactors enthusiastically volunteered for various chores, including laundry, demonstrating their willingness to learn and contribute. The initial service tasks were followed by a profound experience of connection. Interactors met the residents, from young adults to the elderly, witnessing their resilience and passion amidst life's uncertainties.
A highlight of the day was an impromptu jam session and dance, where even the oldest residents, initially citing knee pain, joined in with infectious joy, highlighting their vibrant spirit. After serving food, residents shared stories, emphasizing that they considered the House of Missionaries their home, despite longing for their families.
This experience profoundly impacted both Interactors and teachers. It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community service, empathy, and finding joy in the simple things, creating a day to be cherished forever.
