Description: *World Environment Day Celebration 2025* The World Environment Day celebration, held on June 9, 2025, was a heartfelt and vibrant initiative led by the JPIC Team. The day commenced with the inauguration of the pillar art by the Principal, Sister Punitha, symbolising a strong foundation of environmental consciousness within the school community. The formal programme began after the short break with a warm welcome address by the Vice-Head girl Shiksha Sharma, setting the tone for the day. This was followed by a felicitation ceremony honouring Ms. Reena Chhetri and Ms. Shravasti Lama—two exceptional individuals whose dedication to art, education, and environmental awareness continues to inspire. A thoughtfully curated series of events unfolded throughout the program: - Readings of selected literary pieces deepened our appreciation for nature. - A soulful musical performance of Earth Song stirred emotions and awakened environmental empathy. - Sakya Tamang and Anugraha Mukhia's poetry recitations were particularly moving and heartfelt, reflecting our relationship with nature. - A compelling theatrical skit and video presentations shed light on urgent ecological issues through humour and visual impact. - Inspirational quotations and the story of a legendary Italian diver served as powerful reminders of individual responsibility and environmental heroism. - A vibrant traditional Nepali dance added cultural depth and celebration to the day. - The JPIC PowerPoint presentation documented the group’s tireless efforts and achievements from January to June 2025. - The highlight for many was the final dance performance – Conclave, a powerful and expressive piece blending movement and message to convey the Earth’s cry for healing. - The event concluded with a heartfelt prayer, and the felicitation of our senior teachers, Ms. A. Lama and Ms. Yhonjan, along with our respected principal. Adding to the day’s delight was a Traditional Food Festival, featuring an impressive array of ethnic delicacies prepared by the students of Classes 6 to 12. The food display was thoroughly enjoyed by both teachers and students, showcasing the diversity and sustainability of regional cuisines. The celebration concluded with a movie screening, allowing students to reflect on the environmental themes explored throughout the day through the immersive medium of film. As a striking visual addition to the celebration, a “Think Before You Drink” sugar awareness board was set up in the school board. This creative installation compared the sugar content and calorie count of popular beverages—ranging from packaged water to energy drinks—by displaying actual sugar amounts in transparent packets beneath each drink. This exhibit aimed to make students more aware of hidden sugars in their daily choices and promote healthier consumption habits as part of environmental and personal wellness. Taking the spirit of the day forward, an avocado sapling, donated by Ms. Passang Chapagain, was planted in the school garden by our Principal, Sister Punitha. This symbolic act of nurturing life served as a hopeful reminder of growth, sustainability, and our responsibility toward a greener future.
