Description:
Loreto School Darjeeling celebrated its Annual Sports and Drill Display on the 15th and 16th of May 2025 with vibrant spirit, enthusiasm and unity. Mrs. S. Sherpa graced the event as the Chief Guest on the first day, accompanied by Sr. Shanta and Mrs. A. Philip as the guests of honour. On the final day, the school extended a warm welcome to Mr. Peter Lepcha, Rector, St.Paul's School, Darjeeling, as the Chief Guest, along with the other esteemed guests. The ceremony opened with a prayer, flag hoisting and the National Anthem, instilling a sense of patriotism, followed by a disciplined march past, a symbolic torch relay, and an oath-taking ceremony. Students from categories U-12 to U-19 competed in track events, including 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races, showcasing energy and sportsmanship. The theme for the drill display was ‘Seasons of Change’ and each of these thematic drill displays were a visual delight: Classes 6 and 7 presented "Vibrance of Spring," Class 8 emphasised "Save Water, Save Rain," Classes 9 and 10 performed "Bloom Under the Sun," and Classes 11 and 12 showcased "From Grace to Grit." A spirited relay race by teachers and staff added joy to the occasion. The Chief Guest’s inspiring speech lauded the students’ discipline and the school’s holistic vision. The principal, Sr. Punitha, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, and the event concluded on a harmonious note with the singing of the Loreto Chorus, echoing pride, unity, and celebration.
